Well as with abortion, this involves life, Do you guys believe it is right to eat meat, or even kill animals for food?

I never used to. I thought it was horrifyingly cruel. But now I belief that as long as we are using the animal's meat for a necessity and not some selfish reason (like merchandise) then it should be okay. I was told that it is actually a good thing that we hunt, especially deer, for if we didn't the population would grow out of hand.

I think that it's right. Animals kill each other anyway. xD
No, but seriously. What storeboughtcake said about population of some animals growing out of hands, so true.

Look at out own population though, humans are getting out of hand, do we have thr right to kill them though, are we any better than they are?

We are absolutely not any better than them. I strictly believe that humans and animals should be treated equally. As far as our population is concerned, I believe that the world should come to a global agreement to regulate population.. similar to China's 2 child policy. But I think we all know that that will probably never happen due to the violation of various rights. X] Which I suppose is all right, I mean, I guess I wouldn't be happy if I was told I couldn't have another kid...but I still think something needs to be done.

We can survive as vegitarians but then again we have just as much right to kill as a wolf does to live, some people might prefer meat, I'm not that type I prefer vegtables.

I agree with you, we need to regulate the human population. A lot of people say that if we didnt kill animals there population would just explode, the truth is that they take up a lot less space, and dont squander the earths resources as we have come to do over the years. Rather than regulating the number of children people can have, why not build more man made islands, it could take a while, but there is a lot of space to be found.

I two agree with you both, we need more space to grow, we have a big popualtion overpopulating most other animals, but if we made man made islands that less space for other sea creatures

Well I'm a vegetarian. I think in this day and age it's unnecessary to kill for food but it's all about perspective. I wouldn't say any of my friends or family are in the wrong for eating meat as to them it isn't murder, it's just food brought from the supermarket.
Personally I hate the idea of eating a dead body (even if it's an animal) - to me that is just repulsive but that's just my perception.
Though I do think hunting is a totally barbaric sport.

Speaking of needing more space, who says we have to stay on Earth for that. There is so much free space above the Earth.. in outer space. Think about it, if we build settlements on Luna (the Moon) or Mars, what indigenous life forms are we hurting? Save for the possibility of Martian microbes, none! Terraforming (i.e. changing the atmospheric composition, climate, weather, etc. of a planet to make it more like Earth) will most likely become a real possibility within the next two centuries.
With that capability, we could probably give Mars and maybe even Venus self sustaining environments suitable for human habitation that would last for some millions of years. Beyond that, provided that we can utilize an efficient means of interstellar travel, and assuming Earth-like planets are fairly common, we can colonize other worlds orbiting other stars. Thus man's negative effect on the Earth will be minimized.

Questionable whether building islands is a decent long term solution (we'd still need the extra resources to keep us alive, not just space for our own bodies) or even moving to other planets (gonna fill them up eventually too, and we're gonna have to act fast - the logistics of that would be insane) I haven't eaten meat in about 6 years, not because i'm particularly against humans eating other animals in general, i just despise the meat industry. factory farms... *shudder*. i don't think animals should be considered for our "use" only, i dont think our own selfish tastes and greed should come before our fellow creatures happiness and i certainly dont think profit should any place in deciding the fate of a living thing

or even moving to other planets (gonna fill them up eventually too, and we're gonna have to act fast - the logistics of that would be insane) Not necessarily. If the supposedly more "advanced" nations would spend more of they're money on space research, it might not take as long. I read an article somewhere, which if I can find it I will post it here, where someone argued that if the US had spent the amount of money it's currently spent ( US National Debt Clock) fighting it's two wars for oil in the middle east on going into space... well, we could have Mars mostly terraformed by now, or at least well on the way, with the first colonists already living there, off the land, so to speak. I agree. We need to realize that all the other creatures on Earth have just as much a right to this planet as we do. Some of them that we are driving to extinction have been here way longer than we have. For instance, Sharks: They've been on Earth for 400,000,000 (that's 400 million!) years. Anatomically modern humans have been on Earth for roughly 150,000 years. And we are also quickly driving our closest relatives to extinction: the great apes. It is projected that most, if not all of the great apes will be extinct by 2030. In which case we will have lost a great chance to learn much more about ourselves and our own nature. And the Earth will have lost several more of it's many unique and amazing creatures.
